Life has become the kind of overwhelming where writing these missives starts to feel like a chore. Last time this happened, I just stopped. I’d like things to go a bit differently this time, so I’m giving myself permission to write notes or any length, in any format, with however much detail I can muster.
My health has been uneven due to migraines, and the pressure of work is not helping at all. I’m both counting down days to September 15, the day of the big typeface release and dreading each passing day as tasks pile on (wish me luck!).
Efforts to cut down on smart phone and social media time has been going exceptionally well. I’ve been spending less than an hour on my phone total, and that includes texting friends and family (bulk of which I do from my laptop anyway), checking the weather, making payments, and playing my favourite games. I read four books last week: the first two novels of Sujata Massey’s Perveen Mistry series, Mimi Pond’s Do Admit: The Mitford Sisters and Me, and Lee Lai’s Cannon. Nothing too challenging, but still. Mid-week, I dragged myself to watch The Christophers. What a charming film! I also went to a new park, Parc Pierre Paulus, though it was too warm to spend an hour reading there when I did. More art was hung around the house, and some is sitting mounted. I made two trips to Schleiper for supplies, and planned the prints I want to make for Rhea and Prateek. Last weekend, I finished making a print of Jawahar Vyapar Bhawan. Amber and I did our reconnaissance for watching the solar eclipse on August 12, and got ourselves special glasses.
We had a fun chat with Rhea and Prateek to plan their trip to Brussels, which is less than a fortnight away, and then Amber and I took a tiny picnic to Bois de la Cambre to plan an itinerary and menu based on their preferences. I cannot wait for them to be here!
