I’m late with this edition of week notes, and to make matters worse, I seem to have entirely forgotten what happened in the first few days of last week. So here I am piecing it all together by looking at my pedometer app, bank statements, chats and by poking Amber, who seems to be suffering from the same amnesia as me.
What I do know is that we finally hung up our coat rack, once again not without some literal resistance from the walls despite checking them with a detector. We also also made a mad dash to pick up some new glassware on Sunday during the hottest hours of the day. My Prixel Press, a birthday gift from my parents, arrived. And without any delay, I planned two artworks and already printed one of them. On a late night walk, we found a shop that is open and sells ice-cream at that hour: a big win! I watched the talks that were recorded at the first anniversary celebration of IndieWebClub Bangalore.
The memorable part of the week started on Wednesday.
An unexpected call sent me and Aadarsh into a tizzy about work. Afterwards, I had an online catch-up with Prateek. Later that day, I headed to a little summer get-together at Amber’s office and then to watch The Odyssey. We only made it back home well past midnight, and I was knackered beyond belief. Something about that film (and probably the late hour at which we saw it) brought out all the exhaustion my mind and body had been hiding away.
Thursday started late, but I raced to square away all my work for the week because our very first house guest, Sarthak, was set to arrive that evening. Amber and I picked him up from the railway station, and we grabbed a snack and ice-cream before bringing him home. Sarthak and I hung out while Amber attended a late meeting, and then we walked straight to Bois de la Cambre. Dinner at the guingette, sitting on a bench near the waters to gab, taking the long route home, it was all rather perfect.
Again I had a late morning. Amber and Sarthak were already awake, cleaning up and chattering away by the time I rolled out of bed. We went grocery shopping, and set out for a day around Saint-Gilles. After brunch at Batch, we walked to Les Petit Riens for an afternoon of thrifting (I scored a lovely linen dress!), coffee at Belga & Co, and an evening of art supplies at Schleiper. Sarthak cooked his famous chow mein for dinner, and we capped off the day with (another) long late night walk and ice-cream, and talking till we were dozing off.
